Birrereal takes control at top of La Berliga table

A new leader sits atop the table, but will Birrareal be able to hold on for the last two weeks?

Week 8 Recap

Firstly, Real Social Dads beat down Atletico Madrink 20-17.  Atletico has been struggling in recent weeks and was able to get close to defeating the Dads.  But, Real Social Dads brought home the W in large part thanks to Gulam Zeynalli’s Man of the Match performance.  The Dads now sit in second and are primed for a much-improved league finish compared to last season.

Birrareal smacked down Shaktar Donuts and won their match by a tally of 27-18.  Birrareal faltered at the beginning of the season, but since then the reigning champions have been in red-hot form.  Kado Damball bossed the game for Birrareal with a 7.83 rating and helped his team rise to first place once again.

In the last match of the week, Werder Beermen took down Pathetic Bilbao 21-16.  Bilbao got off to a great start at the beginning of the season, but poor form has nearly dashed their championship hopes.  The Beermen pulled off the upset with the help of great performances from Amin Khalaf and Matteo Pastori.

Week 9 Preview

Werder Beermen face Atletico Madrink in the penultimate week’s first match.  Their previous match was a tight affair, and Atletico escaped with a one-goal win.  Since then, the Beermen have climbed ahead of Atletico in the table, but both remain near the bottom.  Fubles is predicting a repeat victory for Atletico, but this game will be difficult for tippers to pick.

Next, Real Social Dads will play Shaktar Donuts.  These teams drew when they first played, and it has been the only draw of this La Berliga season.  The Social Dads are in good form, but Shaktar Donuts are falling down the table, so this might be a different match.  Fubles seems to think so too as the Dads are predicted as slight favorites.

Most importantly to the fate of the top table, Pathetic Bilbao and Birrareal will clash.  Both teams are near the top of the table, but Birrareal leapfrogged Bilbao after last week’s matches.  Bilbao beat Birrareal first time out, but Birrareal has been on a vengeful mission since that loss.  This game will have huge implications for the league title, and only a draw will leave other teams happy.  Birrareal is the favorite in this game, but Bilbao should not be counted out.

Tipping Competition

La Berliga is coming to a close, so the last weeks of games will be very important to the tipping table. Asebasti and capdom both predicted two games correctly and remained tied at the top of the table. You can follow the table and predict next week’s matches here.

Top Players

This week’s winners of the Man of the Match were Gulam ZeynalliKado Damball, and Amin Khalaf.  They will take home a Wildcorn Popcorn “Wildpack” and a two week trial to Blinkist.  At the end of the season the player with the most Man of the Match awards will get a 50 euro credit for Macron and a 50% discount at Buckle and Seam.

A playoff schedule has been set for La Berliga after the regular season.  There will be two quarterfinal games on November 24, two semifinal games on December 1, and the final and bronze match will take place on December 8.  So, the final positions in the league table will have a huge impact on the playoff matchups.
