Another week of La Berliga is in the books, and the table is beginning to shape up for the second half of the season.
Week 5 Recap
Pathetic Bilbao smashed Atletico Madrink by a score of 36-14. The dramatic 50 goal game vaulted Pathetic Bilbao to the top spot in the league, and it seems they will be favorites going forward into the second half of the season. Marcus Vieira claimed another Man of the Match award for Pathetic Bilbao, and he looks like he could be running away with the Top Player award. On the other hand, Atletico sits firmly in mid-table, and they will be hoping to win some games in order to avoid a bottom place finish.
Werder Beermen escaped with a narrow 23-21 victory over Shaktar Donuts. Devis Marinconz starred for the Beermen in a tight battle that saw the Beermen climb over Donuts and out of last place. Shaktar is now languishing at the bottom of the table with only one win and one draw, but perhaps they will turn it on again for the cup competitions.
Birrareal beat Real Social Dads in a thrilling 22-20 affair. Real Social Dads put up a strong fight against last season’s champions, and almost all of their players scored above a 7. But, it was not enough to conquer Birrareal and their star men Domenico Capotorto and Babacar Diouf.
Week 6 Preview
To begin the second half of the season, Shaktar Donuts will play Atletico Madrink. Both teams are looking to turn around their fortunes, and Shaktar Donuts can leap ahead of Atletico with a win. But it will be a close game, and Fubles give a slight edge to Shaktar.
Next, Werder Beermen face Birrareal. Both teams will have wanted better starts to the season, but both are still within a shot of the league leaders. Birrareal is closer, and Fubles reckons they have a better chance in this match.
In our final match of the week, first place Pathetic Bilbao take on Real Social Dads. Pathetic Bilbao can extend their lead at the top of the table, and their form suggests they are poised to take the league. But, the Real Social Dads are not pushovers and are out to avenge some close losses. Fubles thinks these teams are at even strength, so it will be a difficult game for tippers to choose.
Five tippers had a perfect week, a big difference from last week. Those looking to join in for the second half of the season still can here. Asebasti is at the top of the tipping table with 16 points.
Marcus Vieira, Devis Marinconz, and Domenico Capotorto claimed Man of the Match awards for this week. For their efforts, they each won a Wildcorn Popcorn “Wildpack” and a two week trial to Blinkist. La Berliga’s top overall player for the season will win a duo of prizes: 50 euro credit for Macron and a 50% discount at Buckle and Seam.
