League table shaken up during Week 2

The second round of La Berliga matchups is in the book, and some powerful teams have already fallen.

Week 1 Preview

Atletico Madrink downed defending champions Birrareal by a score of 29-24.   Atletico Madrink bounced back from a loss in a big way by beating stalwart side Birrareal.  Birrareal nearly went undefeated last season, so the early season loss shows it may be more of a challenge this season.  Viktor Angelov and Carlos Castelló Juan stole the show for Atletico Madrink and both scored a 7.5 rating.

Next, Pathetic Bilbao won their first game of the season by defeating Shaktar Donuts 23-9.  Pathetic Bilbao struggled at the beginning of last season, but this victory sets them up for a stronger season.  Marco Rizotti turned in a great performance for Shaktar, but it was not enough to overcome the firepower of Pathetic Bilbao.  Shaktar turned in one of the best team performances of the season so far, including a Man of the Match performance from star forward Marcus Vieira.

In the final game of the week, Werder Beermen beat the Real Social Dads in a tight 20-18 game.  The Beermen victory means all teams who lost their first-week match won their second match.  The game went down to the wire, but ultimately Werder Beermen prevailed thanks in large part to the Man of the Match performance by Luca De Fabritiis.

Week 3 Preview

With all teams now on three points, the league is heating up and every game is of huge importance.

In the first week 3 game, the Real Social Dads face Atletico Madrink. Atletico has huge momentum after their convincing win over the league favorite.  Real Social Dads will be looking to bounce back from a close loss, but so far the teams have looked about evenly matched this season.  Fubles is predicting a dead-even game as well.

Birrareal and Shaktar Donuts will play each other and both teams are looking to recover from a week 2 loss. Birrareal did not suffer such an early season loss in their championship-winning season, so it will be interesting to see how they respond.  Shaktar Donuts is also a powerful team but will need to shake off a heavy defeat.  Fubles predicts Shaktar will pile on the pain for Birrareal and add their second defeat.

Last but not least, Pathetic Bilbao will take on Werder Beermen.  Both sides were able to turn around their fortune for week 1, and they will both be eager to add to their win total.  Fubles thinks that Pathetic Bilbao has a slight edge in this matchup, but it could be a very close game.

Tipping Competition

The tipping competition is in full swing, but you can still join here for your chance to win two VIP tickets to Union Berlin.  User euginko predicted all three games correctly and now sits tied for first after receiving zero points in the first week.  It goes to show that even late beginners to tipping can still come out on top.

Man of the Match Awards

Carlos Castelló JuanMarcus Vieira, and Luca De Fabritiis were the three Man of the Match recipients this week.  All three won the Wildcorn Popcorn “Wildpack”, and will get to chow down and fuel up for the next match.
